Skype headed for 13 million customers a minute. And global meltdown.

Skype has achieved a milestone of 1 billion software downloads. Awesome.

According to Josh Silverman the first half billion took 3 and a bit years; the second half billion just 19 months…

Assuming this acceleration trend continues, everyone in the world will have downloaded Skype by June 2010!

And the last billion downloads will take just an hour and a quarter to acquire…at a rate of more than 13 million new customers a minute over the last hour.

Experts predict that the bandwidth required will cause blackouts from coast to coast triggering world-wide economic collapse and an unprecedented ‘carbon bomb’ which may wipe out 30% of the Amazon.
